PANEL 2: Arachnid and Butterfly/Dragonfly were apparently quite close. Exactly what their relationship was, what happened to her, and who did it are all so far unrevealed. I should point out that there's no evidence of this relationship in the League's few appearances. It's a bit of extra characterisation I added to make Arachnid seem more real, and hopefully, more sympathetic.
PANEL 3: I'm having a bit of a playful pop at the concept behind the Insect League here, with four of the seven members having spider (and thus not insect) related names powers or costumes. Martin doesn't seem to mind...
